The Academy of the Holy Cross is a Catholic women’s college preparatory high school. Students come primarily from Montgomery County (MD) though we do have students from our surrounding counties as well as the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia. Our student body is diverse with approximately 32% of our students identifying themselves as being students of color.

Christian Service Commitment: Each student participates in Christian Service Commitment (CSC) activities through service projects. Participation in CSC activities constitutes one part of the course requirements in Theology courses.

Moreau Advisory Program: The Moreau Advisory Program is an important component in the development of a strong faith-centered community. Students are assigned to an advisory group. Over the four years, this group remains together to develop a unity and spirit that supports the class and the entire school community. Students meet regularly under the supervision of the advisor. The curriculum includes life skills which develops those characteristics necessary to be successful at the Academy and beyond and works toward the Holy Cross goal of educating the whole woman.

Campus Ministry: Campus Ministry provides all students a range of activities and programs designed to nurture and sustain their spiritual lives including: Weekly Mass in the chapel, frequent opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, All-School Liturgies and Prayer Services, Class-Level Retreats

Madeleva Scholars: The Madeleva Scholars Program provides a structure enabling students to achieve most fully those qualities articulated in the Mission Statement of The Academy of the Holy Cross: courage, compassion, and scholarship. The Program is named in honor and recognition of Sister Mary Madeleva, CSC, a noted member of the Sisters of the Holy Cross.

Sancta Crux Scholars: During this four-year program, Holy Cross will foster the intellectual growth of these extraordinary young women and help them embrace and develop their gifts. Scholars must take four honors classes each semester and maintain a 3.5 weighted grade point average throughout the program.

Matriculation: The 136 students in the Class of 2015 submitted 981 applications.

Four graduates will pursue their undergraduate degrees outside the United States.

Six graduates have committed to play varsity athletics and several more have been invited to join teams at their institutions.

Performing Arts

In addition to for-credit classes, two on-stage productions are performed a year; Adrenaline Dance Team; Impulse Improv Team; Guitar Club; Honor Societies: International Thespian Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Nu Delta Alpha Dance Honor Society
